How the Building Came Together

The story behind this hotel begins in 2013, when the site at Paradise Square still held a 1980s office building. Whitbread, the owner of the Premier Inn chain, acquired that building with plans eventually shaped around the wider redevelopment of the Westgate Shopping Centre. Construction was carried out by Carter Lauren, the principal contractor for the Whitbread development, with on-site practices noted during the coronavirus period.

A joint architectural team of Rick Mather Architects and Allison Pike Partnership designed the hotel to reflect its historic location in the city. The result is a 90-bedroom property that brings the brand's latest format bedrooms into the heart of Oxford for the first time.

The hotel introduces the brand's latest format bedrooms, including the enhanced Premier Plus rooms. Standard rooms feature tea and coffee facilities, a double or kingsize bed, free Wi-Fi, a powerful shower and a desk. The Premier Plus Double takes things further with Ultimate Wi-Fi, a coffee machine, a mini-fridge, bedside USB ports, an iron and an upgraded workspace, along with air conditioning, a vanity area and improved refreshments. Layouts, room sizes and designs can vary by hotel and location.

Eating and Drinking On Site

Breakfast and evening options are offered depending on the stay, with build-your-own plates of freshly cooked favourites such as bacon, sausages, eggs and hash browns, alongside veggie and vegan choices and continental options including fruit, cereal and freshly baked pastries. A Meal Deal is also part of the offer.

Parking and Getting Around

Twenty motorcycle parking spaces are available free of charge at the Westgate location, with a height restriction of two metres. Parking is limited at Westgate, so Park and Ride is recommended for journeys into central Oxford. From 29th October the Oxford Congestion Charge is in effect, a detail worth noting for anyone planning an arrival by car. The hotel is also reachable by bus and train.
