Intel and AMD have signed long-term server CPU supply agreements with Chinese clients, according to sources familiar with the matter cited in a Reuters exclusive published on July 22. The deals extend multi-year procurement commitments to Chinese buyers at a time when server demand from cloud and data-center operators is reshaping supply contracts in the market.
Price surge accompanies new contracts
The long-term agreements were concluded as server CPU prices have surged, sources told Reuters. Both Intel and AMD were able to secure multi-year contracts with Chinese customers seeking to lock in volumes against rising costs, reflecting tighter market conditions in the high-end server processor segment and giving the two vendors extended revenue visibility.
Intel seeks operating partners for Ohio fab
Separately, Intel is seeking operating partners for its Ohio chip fabrication facility, according to a Semafor exclusive published on July 22. The search for outside operators indicates Intel is exploring arrangements to share operating responsibility for the Ohio site, which has faced a longer build-out timeline than originally planned.
