SpaceX schedules first post-IPO earnings report

SpaceX is set to deliver its first quarterly results as a publicly traded company on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, with a webcast scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT / 4:30 p.m. ET. The call arrives after SpaceX closed its IPO on June 15 with approximately $85.7 billion in gross proceeds from 638,888,888 Class A shares including full exercise of the underwriters' overallotment option, described in the company's closing announcement as the largest IPO in history. Investor focus is split between Starlink subscriber growth, Starship development cadence, the company's AI investment tied to its February 2026 acquisition of xAI, and the first forward financial guidance SpaceX is required to provide as a listed entity. A shareholder question portal hosted at questiontime.ir.spacex.com, organized into Space, AI, Connectivity and General categories, is open to any visitor through Monday, Aug. 3.
Starlink launch from Vandenberg extends constellation
A Falcon 9 lifted 24 Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base on July 31 at 11:08 p.m. EDT (8:08 p.m. local time), with deployment into low Earth orbit confirmed 61.5 minutes after liftoff. Booster B1081 completed its 26th mission, touching down on the droneship "Of Course I Still Love You" in the Pacific. Space.com's account dated Aug. 1 counted the flight as the company's 89th Falcon 9 mission of 2026 and the 69th dedicated Starlink flight, while a separate X-Report also dated Aug. 1 counted it as SpaceX's 90th orbital launch of the year, a divergence in tallying that the sources did not reconcile. After the mission the Starlink megaconstellation stood at more than 10,800 active spacecraft according to Space.com, with a KeepTrack tally listing 12,620 satellites launched, 10,876 currently in orbit and 10,860 operational.
Starlink V3 satellite films Starship flight 13 splashdown
SpaceX released footage of the Starship flight 13 upper stage completing a controlled ocean splashdown, captured by aerial drones and a floating "buoy cam" near the splashdown zone. In a first-of-its-kind imaging sequence, one of SpaceX's newly deployed Starlink V3 satellites filmed the Starship vehicle while both were in orbit, demonstrating onboard camera and pointing capability beyond the broadband mission. At Starbase, Pad 2 has now supported two Starship flights while retrofits continue on Pad 1 in parallel with the start of Block 3 flight testing, signaling preparation for higher launch cadence across dual pads.
Musk's net worth slides as SpaceX shares retreat after the IPO
Elon Musk's net worth fell from a peak of roughly $1.33 trillion on June 16 to about $684 billion, a decline of more than $600 billion in just over a month, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index as cited on Aug. 1. Shares of SpaceX, officially held under Space Exploration Technologies Corp., closed at a high of $201.80 on June 16 and touched a record low of $108.37, a 46% drop. Short positions rose to 219.3 million shares as of July 29 from 23.3 million on June 16, per S3 Partners data cited in the same Aug. 1 coverage, and roughly 911.5 million shares held by insiders and early investors are expected to become available next month. The decline leaves Musk's fortune below the level recorded before SpaceX's IPO was priced.
Musk rejects WSJ report of a Tesla–SpaceX merger and China carve-out
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the discussions, that advisers to Musk and Tesla have been weighing scenarios including spinning off, selling or shutting down Tesla's China operations ahead of a potential Tesla–SpaceX tie-up. SpaceX already owns Musk's xAI artificial-intelligence start-up, and SpaceX government sales accounted for 20.9% of its business in 2025. Musk called the report "outrageous fake news" on X, saying the spin-off plan "has never been discussed even once." The same reporting flagged Beijing's sensitivity to roughly two million Tesla vehicles in China potentially coming under the control of a U.S. defense contractor, alongside concerns that Tesla's industrial know-how could be repurposed for the U.S. military. Analysts cited by Seoul Economic Daily on Aug. 1 said the review remains preliminary and could be changed or halted during internal review.
What to watch next
The next verifiable milestone is SpaceX's Q2 2026 earnings call on Tuesday, Aug. 4, with the shareholder question portal closing Monday, Aug. 3, and an initial tranche of previously locked-up insider shares also set to become available in the same window.
