Crunchyroll will begin streaming Toei Animation's Dragon Ball Super: Beerus remake in the United States on Oct. 11, 2026, the same day as its Japanese premiere, the platform confirmed on Oct. 5. The announcement ends months of speculation about the U.S. home for the series, which previously had only been confirmed for Crunchyroll's international divisions serving Europe (the United Kingdom and Ireland), the Middle East, and Africa. As Toei Animation and Crunchyroll stated, "Beginning October 11th, the highly anticipated series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will stream on Crunchyroll, the premier global destination for anime, offering fans an enhanced edition of the beloved Dragon Ball Super storyline." The U.S. rollout places Crunchyroll roughly six days ahead of the previously announced Netflix debut.
Two-week streaming window before Netflix arrives
The Oct. 11 Crunchyroll premiere will be followed by a Netflix streaming release on Oct. 17, giving Crunchyroll subscribers a near week-long head start on the remake's first episodes. Both services will carry the series with Japanese audio and English-language subtitles; any future English dub rollout has not been announced. Beyond the United States, the Oct. 11 Crunchyroll launch will also cover Canada, Latin America including Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
Production scope of the Beerus remake
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is being produced at Toei Animation with Tadayoshi Yamamuro directing and Matsuto Seya handling composition and direction arrangement. Eichi Nishimura is credited as editor, Yosuke Motoki as compositing director, and Norihito Sumitomo as music composer, with the series also receiving new opening and ending themes: "ONOGAMI" by MEGATERA・ZERO and "Kan Peki No Peki" by VK Blanka. Toei has framed the project as an "enhanced" remake featuring "extensive new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, a complete re-rendering of all footage, newly recorded dubbing with added score and sound effects, and a full reconstruction of the story," and confirmed that it will adapt the Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, and Universe 6 arcs from the original Dragon Ball Super TV anime. A total episode count and the scope of any subsequent arc remakes have not been disclosed.
Other developments
Separately, Animenewsnetwork reported on Oct. 5 that the television anime adaptation of Aito Aoyagi's Akazukin, Tabi no Tochū de Shitai to Deau (Red Riding Hood: A Detective Story) unveiled its first trailer and additional cast and staff, with Takuya Satō, Atsushi Tamaru, and Motoko Kumai among those joining the cast. The series is scheduled to debut in January 2027.
