Prabhas-starrer Spirit Locks October 29, 2027 Diwali Release, Potential Clash With Ramayana Part 2

Vanga Confirms October 29, 2027 Diwali Date on X

Sandeep Reddy Vanga said on X on October 18, 2026 that his Prabhas-led action drama Spirit will arrive in theaters worldwide on October 29, 2027, positioning the film as a Diwali 2027 release. The director shared the news alongside a new poster showing Prabhas in a dark cap and heavy beard, captioned, "Check this out…….. 😊 #Spirit #InSpiritMode @TSeries @VangaPictures #IndiasBiggestSuperStar 29TH OCTOBER DIWALI 2027 💥 Worldwide RELEASE DATE." In a separate post, Vanga had teased the reveal minutes earlier by telling "Prabhas Anna fans" that he would "introduce a NEW POSTER, featuring the man behind the shades, with the NEW RELEASE date on it."

Shift From March 5, 2027 Slot and Earlier Timelines

Spirit had been previously locked for a March 5, 2027 worldwide theatrical release, an announcement Vanga reiterated in August 2026 while sharing a production update. Reports earlier in the week of October 18, 2026 had speculated that the film would vacate that date after T-Series' Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 was lined up for the same day, and Filmfare said the March slot changed after Prabhas' Fauzi moved from December 2026 to March 2027. NDTV noted the film had earlier been expected in December 2026. Vanga's post now formally places Spirit in the Diwali 2027 window, several months later than the March 2027 plan.

Cast, Crew and Production Backers

Spirit is written and directed by Vanga and marks his first collaboration with Prabhas, following his 2023 Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, which Bollywood Hungama noted grossed over Rs 900 crore worldwide. Prabhas plays an IPS officer described in promotional material as having "one bad habit," with Triptii Dimri as the female lead, Vivek Oberoi in an antagonist role, and Prakash Raj also part of the ensemble; Herzindagi additionally lists Kanchana and Aishwarya Desai in key roles. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga under T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, presented by Gulshan Kumar, and is planned for release in nine languages worldwide. Vanga had earlier said the team had completed a 40-day schedule with around 65 days of filming still to go, and Filmfare reported that production is expected to wrap by mid-2027.

Possible Diwali 2027 Box-Office Clash With Ramayana Part 2

Spirit now sits in the same festive window as Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Part 2, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, produced by Namit Malhotra. Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, the first instalment, is slated to release on November 5, 2026, with the second part long announced for Diwali 2027, though Hindustan Times and NDTV both noted that an exact date for Ramayana Part 2 has not yet been announced. Multiple outlets framed the overlap as a potential, not confirmed, box-office collision, with NDTV stating it is "therefore unclear whether the two films will release on the same day or at different points during the festive season."

Prabhas' Slate Around the New Date

Prabhas' upcoming releases also include Fauzi, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, originally expected in December 2026 but reportedly eyeing a March 18, 2027 slot, with the makers planning a special announcement for Prabhas' birthday on October 23. Further out, India Today lists Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 and Salaar Part 2 as part of his pipeline. The next verifiable milestone in the Spirit calendar is the expected mid-2027 completion of filming, after which the October 29, 2027 worldwide theatrical release would follow, with any firm date for Ramayana Part 2 yet to be confirmed by its makers.
