Ramayana sequel may shift from Diwali 2027 to 2028, makers have not confirmed

Producers weigh a later release for Ramayana Part 2

Producer Namit Malhotra is reportedly considering moving *Ramayana* Part 2 from its planned Diwali 2027 release to Diwali 2028. The production team has not announced a revised date, so the proposed schedule change remains unconfirmed. The first film, *Ramayana: Rise of a Legend*, is scheduled for November 5, 2026.

More filming is reportedly needed for the war sequences

The reported discussion is linked to additional filming required for the second installment, particularly its large-scale war sequences. A source described the sequel as needing more shooting time because the central conflict unfolds in that installment. Producers Namit Malhotra and Yash, along with director Nitesh Tiwari, have not publicly confirmed the proposed delay or explained its cause.

The 2027 date remains the last announced schedule

Diwali 2027 remains the previously announced release window for Part 2. Reporting published on October 24 described 2028 as a possible new window rather than a finalized date, and no exact release date for that year was disclosed. The makers may announce the sequel's schedule through a post-credits sequence in the first film, according to one report, but that possibility has also not been officially confirmed.

Part 1 is still scheduled for November 5

The first installment remains on track for a theatrical release on November 5, 2026, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Yash plays Ravana, Sai Pallavi appears as Goddess Sita and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. Prime Focus Studios is co-producing the film with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations.
