Burna Boy tops Spotify's Global Music Video Chart

Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, became the first male artist and first African artist to reach No. 1 on Spotify's newly launched Global Music Video Chart. The milestone was set by his collaboration with Shakira, "Dai Dai," the official anthem of the 2026 World Cup. The track also reached a new peak of No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week and is projected to enter the top 10 following the World Cup Final Halftime Show performance.
"Dai Dai" remains the most-streamed music video of 2026 on YouTube, with nearly half a billion views, and recently peaked at No. 1 on the Apple Music Global Songs Charts. The song's success has extended Burna Boy's record as the African artist with the most monthly listeners in Spotify history, with over 53 million monthly listeners, and on YouTube Music, with over 600 million monthly listeners.
World Cup halftime show drives streaming surges
An 11-minute halftime performance at the World Cup Final, staged just outside New York, produced notable streaming bumps for the artists involved, according to Luminate data analyzed by The Associated Press. Justin Bieber's "Everything Hallelujah" more than doubled, rising 110% from 592,000 global streams to 1.25 million. Madonna's "Music" climbed 66%, from 193,000 to 321,000 streams, while BTS's "Dynamite" grew 43%, from 2.14 million to 3.05 million streams.
Shakira and Burna Boy's "Dai Dai" added 3.48 million new global streams, a 24% increase from 14.78 million to 18.27 million. In the United States alone, streams of the anthem rose 52%, from 1.68 million to 2.55 million. Luminate noted that the gains were concentrated in the songs performed on the field rather than across the artists' full catalogs.
Atif Aslam's enduring global reach on Spotify
New Spotify listening insights published on July 23, 2026 highlight the scale of Atif Aslam's international audience. The Pakistani artist has accumulated nearly 8 billion streams on the platform, more than 30 million monthly listeners, and listeners in 184 countries. Over the past year, 96% of his streams came from outside Pakistan, spanning South Asia, the Middle East, North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region.
His catalog appears on more than 37.5 million user-created playlists globally. Gen Z accounts for 85% of his streams, and more than 41 million listeners discovered or returned to his music in the past year. Spotify's Artist & Label Partnerships Manager for Pakistan and the UAE, Rutaba Yaqub, said the data reflects the timelessness of his music and the lasting bond he shares with fans across borders.
