Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' extends all-time Hot 100 record

Energetic live music performance with crowd cheering under dramatic lighting.

Ella Langley's country crossover "Choosin' Texas" has spent a 24th total week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, on the chart dated October 3, 2026, extending its own all-time record for the longest reign atop the chart. The track had passed Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" at 23 weeks one week earlier, lifting the previous record of 22 weeks set by that holiday standard. It remains at the summit for a 14th consecutive week. According to Luminate data reported by Billboard, the song generated 22.3 million official U.S. streams during the September 18–24 tracking period, up 2% from the prior week, with 57.9 million radio airplay audience impressions and 9,000 copies sold, weekly sales rising 55%. The song also adds a 24th week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs and ranks No. 3 on Radio Songs.

A second Billboard record on Digital Song Sales

The same chart week produces another benchmark: "Choosin' Texas" now has 19 weeks at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales, moving past BTS's "Dynamite" and "Butter," which each led for 18 weeks. Released in October 2025 through SAWGOD/Columbia Records, "Choosin' Texas" was written by Langley with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, and serves as the lead single from her second studio album, Dandelion. It first reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in February 2026.

Context: an unusually long chart run

Prior to this stretch, "Choosin' Texas" had already become the longest-running No. 1 hit by a female artist this century and the only country song by a woman to reach No. 1 simultaneously on the Hot 100, Hot Country and Country Airplay charts. The success of Dandelion, which debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and sold 169,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week, also made Langley only the second woman in history to hold the No. 1 album and song in the U.S. simultaneously with a country title. Other 19-week Hot 100 leaders include Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Online discussion around the song's unusually long run has continued to surface alongside the chart news.

Langley's Columbus remarks on public scrutiny

Speaking at a concert in Columbus, Ohio, the 27-year-old singer addressed criticism of her public image and recent viral moments, saying she had faced more opinions about herself in the past year than at any earlier point. She cited comments about "the way I look. The way I speak. The way I dress. The way I move. The way I sing. The way I write," and added, "I don't know if I'm strong enough for this, Lord." Langley also pointed back to her earlier touring life, describing "the girl that rode in the 15-passenger van night after night after night" chasing the career "now on bar food, living on tip jar money," before a recently circulated video showed her declining a fan's request for a date and drawing social media criticism.
