HP has introduced the Star Book Air 14 in China, a 14-inch ultra-thin laptop powered by Intel’s Core 5 320 processor. The machine is available for reservation from approximately $740 and carries a 60Wh battery that HP says can provide up to 42.5 hours of use on a charge. Actual battery performance will depend on workload and operating conditions.
The Star Book Air 14 launch in China was reported on October 26. A separate report also covered HP’s global release of the EliteBook 6 G2i 14, a different product in the company’s lineup.
Intel-powered design and specifications
The Star Book Air 14 has a 1920-by-1200 OLED touchscreen with 10-point touch support and certifications intended to reduce blue light and eye strain during extended use. Its aluminum-alloy chassis is 11.77 millimeters thick and weighs 1.16 kilograms, with a 180-degree hinge that allows the display to lie flat.
The laptop combines the Intel Core 5 320 processor with 16GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. HP sells the device in Starry Blue, Ash Silver, Peony Pink and Cantaloupe Green. Connectivity includes two full-featured USB-C ports and HDMI 2.1 output, while a Full HD infrared camera and dual microphones support Windows Hello facial recognition and video calls.
Battery claim and international counterpart
HP’s stated maximum battery life is 42.5 hours, based on its specification for the 60Wh battery. The figure is a manufacturer claim rather than a measured result established by the reviewed reporting.
The same laptop is sold internationally under the name OmniBook 5 14, starting at $699.99, compared with the reported starting price of approximately $740 for the Chinese Star Book Air 14. The international version is therefore about $40 less at the starting-price level, based on the reported figures.
HP’s EliteBook 6 G2i 14 offers a higher-priced configuration
Separately, HP released the EliteBook 6 G2i 14 globally with Intel Panther Lake architecture. The business laptop offers configurations with up to 64GB of RAM and an 800-nit display.
One reported European configuration pairs the Core Ultra 7 355 processor with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD at €2,399, or about $2,685. This release is distinct from the lower-priced Star Book Air 14 and does not change the latter model’s stated battery or availability figures.
