Moonshot AI officially released the Kimi Financial Industry AI Solution on September 17, positioning the offering as a turnkey tool for investment banks, asset managers, and venture capital firms. The Beijing-based company said the product connects to more than ten data sources, including Wind, East Money, S&P Global, Caixin Data, and Cailian Press, and extends to international repositories such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Federal Reserve's FRED platform. Crunchbase and business database Tianyancha were also named as integrated sources.

The suite ships with nine pre-configured capabilities covering institutional financial modeling, research-report generation, IPO analysis, portfolio morning summaries, earnings commentary, project screening, in-depth research, and portfolio reviews. Pricing ranges from 49 yuan ($7.31) per month at the entry tier to 699 yuan ($104.23) at the top tier, with the depth of data access varying by subscription level.

Reported efficiency gains

Moonshot claimed substantial time savings on core financial workflows. Financial modeling cycles that traditionally consume five to seven person-days can be compressed to roughly half a day to one full day using Kimi, the company said. Deep research projects typically running ten to twenty days reportedly shrink to about two days for pilot users. Coverage of the launch characterized the efficiency claims as bold and noted they had yet to be validated at full institutional scale across trading desks, compliance teams, and portfolio management operations.

Early institutional adopters

The launch arrived with a roster of named customers spanning Chinese banking, brokerage, asset management, and venture capital. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), one of the world's largest banks by assets, is among the adopters, alongside brokerage CSC Financial, asset manager E Fund, and investment bank China International Capital Corporation (CICC). On the venture side, Hong Shan — the entity formerly known as Sequoia China — and ZhenFund signed on, with Moonshot describing the initial client base as "dozens" of institutions. To address security concerns, Kimi established a risk assessment gateway with CSC Financial that ensures zero retention of enterprise data and supports institution-level auditable deployment through managed agent services.

Competitive context and executive reaction

The financial-industry launch comes as OpenAI and Anthropic have both pushed toward finance-specific offerings, intensifying the global race to supply the AI backbone of institutional finance. A promotional video released by Moonshot featured Samuel Fischer, Beijing branch manager at Deutsche Bank, who said AI companies that understand real financial workflows and can deliver reliability and data security "will be particularly well positioned to contribute to this transformation." Deutsche Bank's status as a paying customer could not be confirmed.

Commercial backdrop

The new product extends Moonshot's push to monetize the Kimi line. Its flagship Kimi K3 model, released in July, reached $300 million in annual recurring revenue in June, up from $200 million in April. Moonshot has also confidentially filed for a Hong Kong IPO targeting $3 billion at a $50 billion valuation, though the company continues to face U.S. scrutiny over allegations it trained K3 using restricted Nvidia chips — allegations Moonshot has disputed.
