American Express Canada and Hilton announced the launch of the Hilton Honors American Express Card on October 29, 2026, introducing a Hilton Honors co-branded credit card in Canada for the first time. The launch extends a partnership that the companies said has lasted for more than 70 years.

The card is aimed at Canadian travelers and combines Hilton Honors benefits with an American Express payment card. Its features include accelerated Hilton Honors Points on eligible purchases, complimentary Hilton Honors Gold Status and access to Hilton’s portfolio of 28 brands and more than 9,600 properties worldwide. Hilton said its Canadian Honors membership has grown by more than 40% since 2023.

Fees, welcome offer and earning rates

The annual fee is $150. New cardholders can receive 60,000 Hilton Honors Points and a Free Night Reward after spending $3,000 during the first three months. An additional 10,000 points are available after $500 of spending in the 13th month, bringing the introductory total to as much as 70,000 points plus the Free Night Reward. The launch offer is available through January 11, 2027, and current or former cardholders are not eligible.

Cardmembers earn 6X Hilton Honors Points on eligible purchases at Hilton properties, 4X on eligible Canadian gas, grocery and dining purchases, and 2X on other eligible purchases.

Status benefits and annual spending thresholds

Cardmembers receive complimentary Hilton Honors Gold Status. Benefits on eligible stays can include bonus points, a daily food and beverage credit or continental breakfast, space-available room upgrades, digital check-in and complimentary Wi-Fi, with some benefits varying by brand or region.

The card also provides a path to Hilton Honors Diamond Status. Cardmembers who spend $40,000 on the card in a calendar year can receive an upgrade that includes benefits such as executive lounge access, a 48-hour room guarantee and 100% more points on eligible Hilton stays. Separately, spending $12,000 in a calendar year earns 50,000 bonus Hilton Honors Points annually.

Terms remain important for the welcome offer

The Free Night Reward covers one standard room for two at an eligible Hilton property, but some properties are excluded and booking is by telephone. Prince of Travel reported that the reward expires 12 months after issuance, while PointsWise said the Canadian launch materials did not specify its expiry date or confirm every applicable restriction. Consumers therefore would need to review the applicable terms before assigning it a value.

Additional cards do not carry an annual fee, and spending on them counts toward the $12,000 and $40,000 annual thresholds, according to Prince of Travel.
