Amphenol Corporation reported record third-quarter 2026 results, with sales of $10.2 billion, up 65% in U.S. dollars from a year earlier and 37% on an organic basis. Third-quarter orders reached $12.2 billion, producing a book-to-bill ratio of 1.19:1.
The company reported GAAP diluted EPS of $0.79, up 61% from the prior year, and adjusted diluted EPS of $0.80, up 74%. GAAP and adjusted operating margin were 29.5% and 29.7%, respectively. Operating cash flow was $2.1 billion and free cash flow was $1.6 billion.
Revenue and earnings exceed estimates
Amphenol’s third-quarter sales were well above the $9.49 billion analyst estimate cited in same-day coverage and above the company’s prior guidance of $9.3 billion to $9.4 billion. Adjusted EPS of 80 cents also exceeded the cited 73-cent estimate and prior guidance of 70 to 71 cents, adjusted for the company’s two-for-one stock split.
Separate coverage calculated earnings and revenue surprises of 9.59% and 8.37%, respectively, for the quarter ended September 2026. Shares rose in Wednesday trading after the results and outlook were released, according to same-day market coverage.
Amphenol raises the 2026 outlook
For the fourth quarter, Amphenol guided to sales of $10.3 billion to $10.5 billion and adjusted EPS of 81 to 83 cents. The company also raised its 2026 sales outlook to $36.9 billion to $37.1 billion and its adjusted EPS outlook to $2.82 to $2.84.
The new fourth-quarter ranges were above cited analyst expectations of $9.83 billion in sales and 76 cents of adjusted EPS. The full-year ranges were also above the cited consensus of $35.66 billion in sales and $2.69 of adjusted EPS. These are forward-looking company estimates, not realized results.
Strong IT datacom growth supports results
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer R. Adam Norwitt said the 65% increase in year-over-year sales reflected strong organic growth across most end markets, including exceptional organic growth in IT datacom, as well as contributions from Amphenol’s acquisition program.
Same-day analysis said IT datacom accounted for 43% of sales and grew 63% organically in the second quarter, with almost all of that growth coming from AI-related products. That analysis also cautioned that a pause in AI data-center spending could hurt the business, while noting that the figures cover a different quarter from the third-quarter results.
Capital returns and acquisitions
Amphenol increased its quarterly dividend by 20% to $0.15 per share and announced a new three-year, $4 billion stock repurchase program. During the third quarter, it bought back 3.0 million common shares for $245 million and paid $308 million in dividends, returning $553 million to shareholders in total.
The company closed its acquisition of Michigan-based Empire Electronics at the beginning of September. Empire makes complex interconnect assemblies for the automotive market, particularly automotive lighting-related products, and is expected to generate approximately $320 million in full-year 2026 sales. Amphenol also signed definitive agreements to acquire AdvancedPCB, Dexgreen Limited and the sensor business from Humanetics; the supplied reporting does not state that those three transactions had closed.
