What the company reported

Analog Devices delivered adjusted earnings of $3.45 per share on sales of $4.02 billion in its fiscal third quarter ended Aug. 1, beating Wall Street expectations of $3.34 in adjusted EPS and $3.92 billion in revenue. Adjusted earnings rose 68% year over year on a 40% increase in sales, marking the fourth straight quarter of accelerating earnings growth and the sixth consecutive quarter of faster sales gains. Management said the result was driven by strong data center and industrial chip sales.
What changed in the outlook
For the current quarter, the chipmaker forecast adjusted earnings of $3.86 a share on sales of $4.3 billion, well above the FactSet consensus of $3.54 in adjusted EPS and $4.08 billion in revenue. Chief Financial Officer Richard Puccio said demand continued to strengthen across the product portfolio and regions, calling it a "record fourth quarter outlook." He added that disciplined execution paired with targeted growth investments is expected to support a strong finish to the year and carry momentum into fiscal 2027.
Where the demand is coming from
Analog Devices is seeing stronger demand for power-management chips used in AI data centers, industrial equipment and other applications, which is helping support that outlook. AI systems are becoming more powerful and require more electricity and more efficient ways to manage it, positioning Analog Devices to benefit from broader AI infrastructure spending without making the processors that typically draw the most investor attention.
Diversification across end markets
The company reports sales across four market verticals: industrial, automotive, consumer and communications, and the latest results were attributed to strong data center and industrial chip demand. That mix is being highlighted as a buffer if demand slows in any single segment of the semiconductor market, since the chips are also used in factories, industrial automation systems and vehicles.
Investor reaction and valuation context
ADI stock wavered in the session following the release, after shares had already climbed roughly 39% year over year heading into the print. The combination of an earnings beat, a top-line beat and guidance ahead of consensus was characterized as giving investors a reason to take the opportunity seriously, while the prior run-up was cited as the main point of caution.
What remains to be seen
The next verifiable milestone is Analog Devices' fiscal fourth-quarter results, which will test whether the record Q4 outlook translates into actual deliveries against AI infrastructure and industrial demand. Management's commentary also pointed to fiscal 2027 as the period where its targeted growth investments are expected to compound.
