A special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court in Mumbai remanded all 11 accused in the Tiger Shroff firing case to police custody until November 6. The accused were produced before special judge Satyanarayan Ramjivan Navandar on October 29 after being re-arrested under MCOCA, according to reports from ANI, The New Indian Express and Times Now.
Mumbai Police sought custody for 10 days, telling the court that detailed custodial interrogation was needed to investigate the alleged conspiracy behind the shooting. The judge asked the accused whether they had any complaints and instructed them to cooperate with the investigation, ANI reported.
Police invoked MCOCA provisions
The Crime Branch invoked MCOCA provisions against all 11 accused on October 27. Police said permission to invoke the provisions had been granted by the competent authority under Section 23(1)(a) of the Act on October 27, adding Sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4) to the case against the accused.
The underlying case was registered on October 19 by the Detection of Crime Branch and Criminal Investigation Department under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, ANI reported. Police said the investigation remained ongoing.
Shooting targeted Shroff’s car
The case concerns an October 18 shooting in Juhu, Mumbai, when Shroff was leaving a football ground. Reports said two shooters fired five rounds at the actor’s car. Shroff escaped largely unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured.
According to ANI and other reporting, the driver was injured in the incident. Other reports also described the bystander as a vlogger, while ANI stated that police and the defense lawyer discussed tracing digital and financial trails and examining seized mobile phones. The defense lawyer said the ninth accused, who has one functional kidney, had medical records presented to the court.
Custody supports a wider inquiry
Police said the MCOCA invocation was based on alleged criminal backgrounds, financial motives and an effort to establish gang dominance. Six of the accused were reported to have criminal antecedents, and Anil Pandit, whom police named as a wanted accused, was described as a Bishnoi associate with three chargesheets filed against him in serious cases in Haryana and Punjab.
The prosecution also told the court that Pandit purportedly claimed responsibility through social media posts and audio messages, while three alleged shooters said during interrogation that the attack was their third attempt to target Shroff. These accounts were presented by the prosecution and remain allegations under investigation, not findings established by the court in the remand order.
