Dragami Games and Nada Holdings unveil the Lollipop Chainsaw sequel for PS5

Excited gamers celebrating a win in a competitive gaming tournament with headphones.

Dragami Games, Nada Holdings and developer JP Universe announced Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back for PlayStation 5 during Tokyo Game Show 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. The sequel is scheduled to launch in 2027, with a playable demo running at the show from September 17 to 21. No specific release date, price or additional platforms have been disclosed.

Juliet returns to a rebuilt San Romero now called Jaredwood

Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back once again stars Juliet Starling, this time in a new outfit and equipped with roller skates that make her more agile. The setting shifts from the original high-school backdrop to a rebuilt San Romero that has been transformed into "Jaredwood," a sprawling metropolis built around the film industry. According to the official description, a mysterious director traps Juliet inside his twisted zombie movie, forcing her to fight alongside her allies, uncover the conspiracy behind the chaos, and stop a new threat from the Corrupted Realm zombies. Early footage showed about eight minutes of zombie-slicing combat, alternating chainsaw attacks with cheerleading moves. Push Square characterized the preview as rough-looking, citing awkward camera work and choppy animations.

Development team led by Hajime Tabata with returning original creators

Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy XV, is involved with the project through his JP Universe studio, and several outlets described him as directing the new game. Masahiro Yuki, who co-produced and wrote the scenario for the original Lollipop Chainsaw, returns for the sequel, alongside NekoshowguN, the original game's main character concept artist. The announcement does not credit original collaborators such as director Suda51 and writer James Gunn, an absence that Push Square flagged as a point of concern among fans.

RePOP remaster discounted as the sequel announcement lands

To mark the announcement, Dragami Games is offering up to 45 percent off Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the 2024 remaster of the original game, across digital storefronts. The Xbox Series and Xbox One sale runs until October 15, while the Steam promotion continues until September 30. Sales on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch 2, Switch and GOG are planned to begin later.

Other developments

Separately, developer Com2uS announced the survival action RPG GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, also targeting a 2027 release window. Tokyo Game Show 2026 runs through September 21, where further details on Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back are expected to surface.
