Fourth-weekend dominance despite a horror challenger

"Brand New Day" still led the domestic chart on its fourth weekend, collecting an estimated USD 39 million and adding roughly USD 109 million globally, according to industry tallies. That grip was briefly tested by "Insidious: Out of the Further," whose USD 10 million-plus opening day knocked the Spider-Man film from the top spot on the fourth Friday before "Brand New Day" reclaimed first place on Saturday. The horror sequel finished its first three days at about USD 25 million nationwide, reshaping the weekend's supporting rankings without dislodging the overall leader.

Closing on 'Titanic' on the worldwide chart

Globally, "Brand New Day" is narrowing the gap with James Cameron's 1997 "Titanic," whose lifetime worldwide total including a 2012 re-release is roughly USD 2.26 billion. The Spider-Man film had reached about USD 2.21 billion worldwide after its fourth weekend and was positioned to overtake "Titanic" within roughly a week.
