Miley Cyrus, recording under the mononym Miley for this cycle, earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in more than a decade as "Bass Persuades" opened atop the chart dated Oct. 3, 2026. The album launched with 61,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the tracking week ending Sept. 24, according to Luminate. The sum breaks down as 47,000 in album sales — good for No. 1 on Top Album Sales — 14,000 streaming equivalent album units (equal to 14.22 million on-demand official streams), and a negligible track equivalent album component.
"Bass Persuades" is Cyrus's sixth leader overall and her 16th top 10 entry on the Billboard 200, following 2013's "Bangerz." The album was announced on Sept. 1, the title track and first single arrived Sept. 3, and the full project was released Sept. 18. That title track debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Sept. 19, marking Cyrus's 24th top 40 hit. She is the third act in 2026 to return to No. 1 after a gap of at least a decade, after Bruno Mars's "The Romantic" in March and A$AP Rocky's "Don't Be Dumb" in January.
A Tight Race for the Top Spot
The debut narrowly edged out Ella Langley's "Dandelion," which held at No. 2 with nearly 61,000 units. Riley Green followed at No. 3 with "That's Just Me," earning about 60,000 units in his first top 10 appearance. Rounding out the top five were Morgan Wallen's "I'm the Problem" at No. 4 and Olivia Rodrigo's "You Seem…" — both carried over from prior weeks. beabadoobee also reached the top 10 for the first time with her latest release. The full Oct. 3-dated Billboard 200 was scheduled to post on Billboard's website on Sept. 29.
Langley Extends Her Hot 100 and Digital Song Sales Records
While Cyrus led the albums tally, Langley continued to dominate the singles chart. Her track "Choosin' Texas" logged a 24th week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, one week after surpassing Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for the most weeks atop the chart. "Choosin' Texas" also broke the record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, reaching 19 frames.
What Comes Next for 'Bass Persuades'
Cyrus is scheduled to perform songs from the album at a two-night Hollywood Bowl stand in Los Angeles on Oct. 16 and Oct. 18, with Model/Actriz — featured on the record — joining as a special guest. The next Billboard 200 chart, dated Oct. 10, will be published later in the week and will show whether "Bass Persuades" can hold its opening-week momentum.
