Box office tracker Global Box Office reported on October 6 that Avengers: Doomsday has passed $100 million in pre-sales at the global box office, with the milestone driven by record-setting early demand in overseas markets. The film became the fastest movie to cross $1 million in pre-release sales in both the U.K. and Brazil, according to the tracker.
Domestic track record spans five months of staggered sales
Premium-format tickets for Doomsday went on sale on July 20, generating $16.5 million in the first 24 hours across roughly 1,000 domestic theaters. Wider ticket sales opened around Disney's D23 event, and the film became the first in history to cross $40 million in domestic pre-sales a full 100 days before release. Disney CFO Hugh Johnston later confirmed at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference that domestic pre-sales had passed $50 million, with more than 70% of sales allocated to Infinity Vision, Disney's premium large-format label. Global Box Office has previously reported domestic pre-sales exceeding $55 million with three months still to go.
Opening projections and comparisons to past Marvel records
Global Box Office has projected a domestic opening between $260 million and $300 million, with separate tracker-cited projections suggesting a worldwide opening above $1 billion. For comparison, Avengers: Endgame opened with $357.1 million domestically, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day debuted with $360 million. Domestically, Doomsday's pre-sales remain below Endgame's $60 million and Spider-Man: Brand New Day's $72 million advance totals. Across all pre-sales, Doomsday trails Endgame's advance ticket haul, which exceeded $120 million.
Cast, release date and competing December debut
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday opens in U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026, two days after its December 16 U.K. debut. The confirmed ensemble includes Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Winston Duke, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Mabel Cadena, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour and Hannah John-Kamen. The film opens against Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three, a pairing industry watchers have nicknamed "Dunesday."
Additional international milestones
Beyond the U.K. and Brazil, Disney reported that 50,000 tickets were sold in the Netherlands within 24 hours of pre-sales opening at 12:00 on Monday, a national record surpassing the 42,000 first-day tickets sold by Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Demand caused technical issues on cinema chain Pathé's website, which sold nearly 6,000 tickets in the first half-hour. A Bulgarian tracker reported the film had matched Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the same stage while pulling away from Dune: Part Three. Fan-site reports, treated with caution, claimed the U.K. passed $1 million in pre-sales within 24 hours, which would be the country's highest first-day pre-sale total in five years.
Tracker caveats and context
Global Box Office's figures have not been officially confirmed by Disney and should be treated as tracker estimates rather than studio disclosures. Pre-sales do not guarantee a final box office total, and tracker projections of $1 billion worldwide openings or $3 billion global grosses remain conditional. Endgame's current worldwide total stands at $2.925 billion following its Encore rerelease, retaining its standing as the highest-grossing film of all time.
