Disney and Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame Encore" opened to $26 million domestically and about $60 million internationally, for an $86 million global debut. The figure places the re-release among the biggest openings ever for a theatrical re-release and puts the film at No. 1 worldwide for the weekend. Domestic runners-up included "Heart of the Beast" ($20 million) and "Primetime" ($19.1 million).

Lifetime gross approaches 'Avatar'

The cumulative global gross for "Avengers: Endgame" now stands at $2.88 billion, moving the film closer to James Cameron's "Avatar" ($2.92 billion) as the highest-grossing film of all time. "Endgame" reclaimed the No. 2 lifetime slot this weekend, seven years after its original release.

MCU momentum after a 2025 slowdown

The re-release extends a stronger run for Marvel at the global box office following a 2025 downturn. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has already crossed $2 billion worldwide and ranks among the highest-grossing films of all time. Together, the two titles have helped restore the MCU's theatrical standing heading into the next Marvel release cycle.

Reception and the 'Doomsday' tie-in

The Encore cut is being positioned by Disney as a premium-priced upsell ahead of the Russo brothers' upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday," with short teases attached. Early reviews of the Encore package itself were mixed, with critics calling the new material underwhelming relative to the higher ticket price. Whether the re-release can climb high enough to overtake "Avatar" remains an open question.
