Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens early in India

Tom Holland's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" opened in Indian theatres on July 30, 2026, a day ahead of its worldwide release scheduled for July 31. According to The Times of India, the fourth standalone Spider-Man film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, ran across 8,779 shows on Day 1 and collected a net of Rs 18.01 crore, taking the total India gross to Rs 21.25 crore per trade analyst Sacnilk. Advance booking sales for the opening weekend crossed Rs 85 crore in India, and international box office trackers are forecasting a global opening in the region of USD 800 million, with analysts projecting the film could race past the USD 1 billion global mark within its first week.
Spider-Man certification and edits
The Times of India and India TV News reported that the Central Board of Film Certification granted the film a UA 13+ certificate with a certified runtime of 2 hours, 24 minutes and 52 seconds. The board directed the makers to remove approximately eight seconds of content described as a "titillating sensual act," including kissing scenes, and to mute select profanities, while permitting a separate three-second sequence that was not deemed titillating. The film was released in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Ramayana: Part 1 trailer launches globally
The first full trailer for Nitesh Tiwari's "Ramayana: Part 1" was unveiled on July 30, 2026 during the Brahma Muhurat at 4:15 a.m. Hollywood Reporter India and IANS (via New Kerala) reported the trailer was released across five Indian languages: Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Raavan, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The score marks the first collaboration between Oscar-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. The trailer traces key events from the epic, including Ram and Sita's wedding, Kaikeyi's exile decree and the Sita Haran episode.
Ramayana production scale and release plan
Zee News reported that the two-part "Ramayana" epic, produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, carries a combined budget of approximately Rs 4,000 crore, described by producer Malhotra as several times the budget of anything previously produced in India. The trailer crossed 10 million views within nine hours of release and topped YouTube's trending list. The project was previewed at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 after its original July 24 trailer release was postponed following a global distribution deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment. "Ramayana: Part 1" is scheduled for worldwide release on November 5, 2026 during the Diwali weekend, with the second instalment set for Diwali 2027. Global distribution will be handled by Sony Pictures, with North India distribution by Dharma Productions.
Regional South Indian releases for July 31
Baap of Movies reported that July 31, 2026 will see a slate of regional South Indian theatrical releases. Telugu titles include "Newton's 3rd Law," "Karmakhya" and "Adhey Neevu Adhey Nenu." Kannada releases include "Shreemati Sindoora," "Sarkari Nyaya Bele Angadi," "Jolly," "Tadviruddha" and "Shri Ramarajya." Malayalam releases include "Unmadham" starring Kunchacko Boban and Lijomol Jose, and "Kandan."
